A Creative Playground

for Curious Humans.

Make things. Try things. Make a mess.

A lot of us stopped playing

Somewhere along the way

We got busy. We started thinking creativity had to be useful, impressive, productive, sellable, or something we were naturally “good at.” And if we didn’t consider ourselves artists? Well, then we probably stopped making things altogether.

The Inspire Play Collective is our way of pushing back on that. This is a place to try things just because they sound fun. To make something ridiculous. To follow an idea without needing to know where it is going. To remember what it feels like to be curious without immediately asking whether you’re doing it right.

Here’s how it works.

Every month, we send you a new theme and four playful prompts straight to your inbox.

Not assignments or tutorials or challenges you are going to feel guilty about falling behind on.

Just four places to begin. You can do all four. You can do one. You can completely misunderstand the prompt and make something we never would have thought of.

Honestly, even better.

Sometimes we leave the internet.

Throughout the year, we’ll host free creative play events around Utah.

Low-pressure, come-as-you-are kinds of things. A reason to get out of the house.

A reason to make something alongside other humans. A reason to try something you probably would not have planned for yourself.

Some will be hands-on. Some will be collaborative. Some will get us wandering. Some will be very silly.

None of them require you to arrive already knowing what you are doing.

And sometimes we make something BIG.

A few times a year, we’ll turn the play into larger community experiences. Think Public art. Gallery shows.

Creative collaborations. Outdoor gatherings. Open calls. Showcases.

Things tucked into unexpected places for people to discover.

Things that bring creative people together. Things that make the community a little more interesting simply because they exist.

You might participate. You might come see what everyone made.

You might stumble across something weird in a shop window and wonder what on earth is going on.

Excellent.

And no, you do not have to be an artist.

That part matters.

A prompt might turn into a painting.

Or a poem.

Or a photograph.

Or a weird little snack.

Or something you sew, build, wear, film, decorate, perform, collage, arrange, write, cook, collect, or invent.

Maybe you already make things all the time. Maybe you have not touched an art supply since elementary school. Maybe you keep saying, “I’m not creative.”

You can come too.

The prompts are not about making the same thing. They are about seeing what happens when you give yourself permission to play with an idea.

Then we keep the play going.

The monthly theme does not disappear after the email lands.

Over on Instagram, we’ll share more ideas, different interpretations, community creations, event updates, and whatever strange little rabbit holes the theme sends us down.

Made something?

Show us.

Tried something and it went hilariously wrong?

Definitely show us.

One of our favorite parts of this whole idea is getting to see how differently people respond to the exact same invitation.

So, what do you actually get when you join?

You have enough reasons to wait.

This can be the reason to start.

Try the weird idea. Make the small thing. Follow what catches your attention.

Let yourself be curious long enough to see where it goes.

That’s the whole point.

Come play.

Four prompts. One new theme every month. Plenty of room to make it yours.
